Vision
Vision
The vision of GST RESCUE is to ensure a fast,
reliable and safe pan-European response to
vehicle incidents.
Mission
The vision will be realised through optimising
the initialisation of the in-vehicle eCall via an
intelligent in-vehicle trigger system. The eCall
service chain will be optimised by ensuring that
in-vehicle data first reaches emergency centres
and then is transmitted to the emergency
vehicles. After an emergency vehicle has
received the proper in-vehicle incident
information (identification, location and
direction of travel), a hybrid navigation
solution and blue corridor system using
vehicle-to-vehicle communication will notify road
users of its approach ensuring that it can
quickly and safely reach the incident scene. The
safety of the incident scene will be ensured with
a virtual coning system that transmits warnings
about the incident to approaching road users.
After the emergency vehicle leaves the scene,
remote reporting and transfer of relevant data to
hospitals will be made possible in order to
further reduce the number of fatalities and
injuries on European roads.
System Overview
Test Sites
Trials will start in 2006 at three different GST
test sites. The UK test site will demonstrate all
elements of RESCUE. The system will also be
tested in different scenarios at GST test sites
in Italy and Germany.
