Eligibility
  • Questions about the students course and HEI
    (University or College).
  • In this section, students will be advised if they
are not eligible for student finance and will not
be allowed to proceed any further if they are
    ineligible.

11
If the student answers yes to any of these,
they get shown a sorry page and are unable to
continue unless they change their answer.
12
If the students postcode cannot be found they
are shown an extra screen where they must select
their Local Authority from a list. If their
postcode is outside England, Wales or NI they
will be unable to continue online.
13
The Terms and conditions are followed by a
short intro page
14
The answers to these questions determine which
screens the student sees later on in the
application.
15
The student can submit their passport details

How Much Can I Apply For?
This screen is very important - it splits
students into means-tested or non-means tested.
At this point, the student can either finish
their application or choose to apply for
means-tested support. If they choose the latter
they will need to tell us if they have parent(s)
or a partner who supports them financially. Their
parent(s) or partner will then need to give their
household income details.
35
Non-Means Tested Only Confirmation
36
Dependency
37
Dependency
  • Questions about the parents or partner of the
student, if the student has been in employment
over the past three years etc. The student only
sees these screens if they are applying for
    means-tested support.

Alias ID Reference Number
  • When the student has completed their part of the
application, they will be presented with a
further number, if they have indicated their
parent(s) or partner would like to support their
    application online.
  • This Alias ID is different to the Customer
Reference Number held by the Student and the
Customer Reference Number the parent(s) or
partner will get when they have registered to use
    the Student Finance England Service.
  • It is important that this is given to the people
supporting the students application as they are
likely to need it to link their income details to
    the students application.
