Introduction to NAP Idea
  • Awareness and concern on SC, but not much
    implementation.
  • Some policies, but a lack of a coherent
    framework/plan that integrates various activities
    for a common goal.
  • Need for more concrete outputs (decoupling
    consumption from environmental degradation)
  • Capacity building on drafting national action
    plans on sustainable consumption (sector
    specific).

NAP EXERCISE
  • Country team exercise (12 teams)
  • Each team supported by one resource person
  • Go through the 6 steps and fill out the NAP sheet
  • This is an exercise to test the NAP, If you do
    not have the information, assume you do.
  • Plenary the main findings of each country will
    be summarized in a matrix

Purpose of the Booklet
  • Developed as part of SC. Asia project for this
    seminar.
  • Provide guidance on how national action plans on
    sustainable consumption (NAPs) may be developed.
  • The model proposed in this booklet
  • provides a step-by-step approach
  • includes basic elements that should be included
    in NAPs
  • each section contains generic text explanation
    about what country specific information is
    needed.
  • The model draws on the UN Guidelines input from
    the European and Asian reviews.
