The antenna effect was studied in a BPSK DS-UWB
system. The impulse response of the transmitting
and receiving antenna were simulated from CST.
The indoor propagation model was simulated by ray
tracing model.

Conclusions

• The antenna has greater impact in UWB than in
  narrowband systems as the large bandwidth of an
  UWB signal causes substantial changes in both
  radiation pattern and the input impedance.
• Reciprocity can be used to produce the receiving
  transfer function if the transmitting transfer
  function is known or vice verse.
• The performance evaluation of UWB system must
  include the antenna effect.
