among MSM (especially URA) -
- 2. MSM meth users (vs. non-users) are 2 times
more likely to be HIV - 3. MSM Meth users (vs. non-users) had twice as
many partners in the prior 4 weeks - were 1.7 times more likely to have gonorrhea
- were 1.9 times more likely to have chlamydia
- were 4.9 times more likely to have syphilis

- The majority of respondents, 57 are gay men of
whom -
- 24 percent have never used methamphetamine
- 19 have tried it at least once

- 24 percent use it 1-2 times per month
- Only 8 self-report as daily users of which 9
percent identify as in need of help to stop using - 23 are heterosexually identified of which 76
have used, or report as currently using, meth. - These figures indicate that the majority of site
visitors are in a primary prevention or early
intervention category in which provision of
education and an opportunity to look at the
consequences of use may be effective as primary
prevention or early intervention

20August 2004 March 2005 Update
- Survey responses slowed from average of 125
complete submissions per month to an average of
50 completed submissions per month. - New question broke down residency to specific
boroughs of Manhattan ( see next slide). - Trends in this data set that differ from first
one- - age of respondents dropping , with more in their
twenties - more frequent use reported
- more reports of not being able to stop using or
unsure they can stop using - 4. other data very similar

- 12 Bronx respondents, all whom reported meth use
on a regular basis - Manhattan and Brooklyn respondents had highest
percentage of weekend use - Staten Island survey numbers very small,
insignificant reports of meth use - While 33 of all respondents from around the
country reported never using or trying meth, only
8 of all NYC respondents reported never trying
or using meth

- New content every 6 months invite contributors
but screen them - New headers , new ads at least every 3 months
- Google key words
- Video clips less than 1.5 minutes
- Quick and dirty surveys work
- Raffles are nice BUT..
- Data analysis is a big big task
