7 Past continuous, function
- To show an action which was happening at a time
when another was completed. - while, when and as.
- eg While I was walking home, it stopped raining.
- He was doing his homework when I came in.
8 The past continuous is used to show an
action that was happening at a certain time in
the past. eg Paul was doing his homework at
8pm last night. The girls were practicing for
the concert all the afternoon.
