What were they opposing?

• A Church That had the following
• Prayer - Acts 424-30
• And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give
  your servants great boldness in their preaching.
  Send your healing power may miraculous signs and
  wonders be done through the name of your holy
  servant Jesus." After this prayer, the building
  where they were meeting shook, and they were all
  filled with the Holy Spirit. And they preached
  God's message with boldness (NLT)

What were they opposing?

• Proclamation
• In the Temple (v12)
• From house to house (v42)
• Acts 528
• you have filled Jerusalem with you teaching
  (NIV)
• Purity
• Acts 511
• Great fear seized the whole church and all who
  heard about these events
• Acts 513
• No one else dared to join them, though everyone
  had high regard for them. (NLT)

  Lord and were added to their number.

The Nature Of The Opposition

• Filled with Jealousy
• Acts 517-18
• The high priest and his friends, who were
  Sadducees, reacted with violent jealousy. They
  arrested the apostles and put them in the jail.

• ALL opposition is fuelled by SATAN
• John 1010
• The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and
  DESTROY I have come that they may have life, and
  have it to the full.

Overcoming Opposition

• God Intervenes
• Acts 520
• Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and
  tell the people the full message of this new
  life.
• Acts 538
• Therefore, in the present case I advise you
  Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their
  purpose or activity is of human origin, it will
  fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able
  to stop these men you will only find yourselves
  fighting against God."

Overcoming Opposition

  good to those who love God, to those who are the
  called according to His purpose
