  business needs of the State of Ohio for both
  today and tomorrow.

• It has been 20 years in a rapidly advancing
  field - since IT classifications were reviewed
• Some classifications are obsolete
• Need for emphasis in current system on career
  ladders
• Consultant work which may better be performed by
  the State workforce

• State government will have an IT classification
  system which meets todays needs while remaining
  flexible enough to keep pace with advances in
  technology.
• Employees will benefit from career advancement
  training opportunities and will be doing the work
  outlined in their classifications.
• State employees will be utilized consistent with
  business needs
• Will reflect a system that fosters better IT
  investment through recognizing the value of our
  IT workforce.
