• Used to obtain IP addresses

• Method for connecting to the internet using
  private IP addressing

• Used by Outlook for so multiple users can exist
  on one machine

DHCP

• WINIPCFG
• On Windows 9x machines for obtaining IP addresses
• Use release and renew

• On Windows 2000 machines
• Ran from command prompt
• Ipconfig shows ip information
• Ipconfig /release
• Ipconfig /renew

Proxy

• No need to set on Windows 2000, configured
  automatically from Group Policies
• On Windows 9x configured through IE or control
  panel
