Part I Introduction
  • Access to internet through portable devices has
    become common place.
  • Mobile phones are relatively inexpensive, widely
    spread, and fast becoming a ubiquitous presence
    in our students daily lives.
  • Majority of our students take their phones with
    them wherever they go.
  • Instead of viewing mobile phones as disruptive
    devices, educators today should seek to exploit
    their potential.

Objectives of This Project
  • Explore the viability of a new teaching and
    learning environment mobile phone access to
    internet instructional materials.
  • Prepare us to become better educators in the
    future.

Is M-learning Really Better ?
  • 1) Is student connecting time (study) increased?
  • 2) Is students collaborating time increased?
  • 3) Does it improved students learning outcome?
    In-depth understanding of the concepts?

Comparative Study
  • Experimental Group (PC and Mobile phone
    accessible) and Control Group (PC accessible
    only).
  • Survey, Daily and weekly Time log, are used.

Students connecting time increased
  • 20 student's study time has doubled.
  • 40 students study time increased at least 30.
  • 40 students study time increased at least
    50-70.
  • The above results are from students survey.

Students collaborating time increased
  • Students forming study group from day one.
  • 100 of the students believe iPhone has increased
    their connection both socially and academically.
  • Nearly 100 attendance for the mini-term.

In-depth Understanding Concept
  • 95 of students believed phone has helped them to
    understand the class material better.
  • 80 of them believe they can repeat access the
    concept, including video and audio device.
  • 20 of them think the Photos build in the phone
    helps them with Lab exam.
