Standard 10 Program Area Safety
  • 705 KAR 4231. General Program Standards for
    Secondary Career and Technical Programs.
  • Section 14. The maximum number of students per
    class shall be based on the class setting.
  • For a classroom setting, the maximum number shall
    be thirty-one.
  • For a laboratory or shop setting, the number of
    students enrolled in a class shall not exceed the
    number of work stations available in the
    facility.

  • Items to be included in a first aid kit
  • 1 box Adhesive strip bandages, assorted sizes
  • 1 full roll, Adhesive tape, 2 roll
  • 1 Elastic bandage, 3
  • 20 Gauze pads, 2x2
  • 20 Gauze pads 4x4
  • ½ box, Gloves, non-sterile exam
  • 4 Roller bandage, self-adhering, 4
  • 4, Triangular bandage with safety pins
  • Hydrogen Peroxide

Area
  • Provide an inviting area conducive to learning.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly lab and classroom.
  • Remove clutter.
  • Organize tools and supplies.
  • Surplus broken/outdated equipment.
  • Store excess supplies.

Inspection
  • Have a qualified person knowledgeable in
    technical lab safety conduct a safety inspection
    each year.
  • Include the dated inspection sheet in the program
    documentation.

  • Include a list (roster) of students in your
    program by period, block or half-days.
  • Note Enrollment should not exceed 31 students
    or the number of workstations.

  • Research to find person who will be conducting
    the annual safety inspection.
  • Find appropriate accident forms and procedures.

General Program Assessment Guidelines
  • All documentation should be dated and reflect the
    current evaluation period.
  • Documentation for all standards should be
    included in the program documentation not in
    the principals, counselors, or advisors
    office.
  • When the program at one location has multiple
    teachers, prepare only one set of documentation
    for the program. Programs housed at satellite
    locations are considered separate programs.
  • When a lengthy document is presented, mark the
    page(s) specific to the assessed program.

General Program Assessment Guidelines(Continued)
  • Two dated samples should be provided for such
    items as portfolios, open response, student
    safety tests, and student evaluations of the
    course.
  • All documentation must identify the program to
    receive credit for the standard.
  • The program website provides detailed
    instructions and examples for all standards.
  • Items marked with an asterisk () may be
    documented in a program folder.
