All courses are available for students with
disabilities.

for
Students with Disabilities (SWD)
4Want a JOB!!!
5Might not know what job but,
and
no good!
So
6SWD need
- Independence for the workplace,
- Appropriate skills or pre-skills,
- Transport means or arrangements,
- At least some self-advocacy skills,
- Health level for mode of study,
- Patience and flexibility (advice)!
7The process should begin with contacting the
Teacher/Consultant, preferably, in person, and,
where possible, meeting at the anticipated campus.
8Entry requirements might
Involve an application,
and/or
An interview,
and/or
Submitting a portfolio.
9SWD might study
- A part-time course, part-time, or,
- A full-time course, part-time, or,
- A full or part-time course by mixed mode, i.e.
OTEN/Campus, or, - By Distance Education (OTEN), or,
- A T-VET course as part of the HSC, or,
- A TAFE-Link course prior to Uni.
10SWD might also
- Study a customised course such as Employment
Skills, or - Study some modules on an individual or small(er)
group basis, or, - Study some modules over a longer period, or,
- Study only selected modules from a course.
11Employment Skills courses currently include
- Basic hospitality and cookery,
- Introductory information technology,
- Getting your Ls,
- Money management, and,
- Adaptive technology.

13Other financial issues for SWD include
- Only one individual exemption per year, and,
- No fee-exempt courses, and,
- Rises in all course fees in 2004.

- May modify class notes,
- Liaise with class teacher,
- Enlarge or record class notes,
- Type and save notes to disk,
- Assist with assignments exams,
- Take notes when absent - maybe.

- Auslan,

- Cued Speech,
- Liaise with class teacher,
- Liaise with other students,
- Assist with excursions/assignments.

- Physical access/room arrangements,
- Classroom modification/furniture,
