5
Origins of the Sonde and ISCO
  • Donated to the TCSWD by the Tippecanoe Health
    Department.
  • The equipment has been in storage until this fall
when we began working with it.
  • The TCSWD wants us to evaluate the equipments
current conditions and give them easy to follow
    directions.

6
ISCO Specifications
  • Portable sampler
  • Programmable to take samples at predisposed time
    increments
  • Samples are stored in an insulated base
  • Data is stored in its large memory (2mB) and can
be retrieved with the 581 Rapid Transfer Device

7
Sonde Specifications
  • YSI Environmental
  • Field replaceable probes
  • No internal memory or battery
  • Must be hooked up to sampler, data logger, or
    computer
  • Operational temperature
  • -5 to 45oC

8
Hookup and data transfer
9
ISCO hookup (Sonde)
10
ISCO hookup (RTD)
11
Computer hookup (Sonde)
  • Direct hookup of Sonde to computer
  • Incompatible flowlink 4 software.
  • Manual calls for Ecowatch software

12
EcoWatch Software
  • Collects data from the Sonde when directly
    connected to the computer
  • Collects and graphs real time data

13
Probes
  • D.O., pH, Turbidity, Conductivity,and
    Temperature
  • Each probe has been detached and cleaned
  • Temperature, D.O., and pH probes have been
    calibrated.
  • May need to replace the pH probe

14
Conclusion
  • To Date
  • Cleaned and calibrated most of the probes
  • Successfully connected Sonde directly to
    computer
  • First attempt at programming ISCO sampler
  • Began writing program manual
  • Website http//epics.ecn.purdue.edu/cwwq/
  • Future (tentative)
  • Program ISCO sampler and test battery life
  • Test data transfer from ISCO sampler to computer
  • Price replacement pH probe
  • Complete calibrations
