Title: SIR ISAAC NEWTON
1SIR ISAAC NEWTON
1642 - 1727
Sir Isaac Newton was a mathematician and
physicist and is thought to be one of the worlds
smartest scientists of all time. He was born in
Woolsthorpe, in Lincolnshire. Sir Newton went to
Cambridge University in 1661. He was also elected
a Fellow of Trinity College in 1667. He was also
Lucasian Professor of Mathematics in 1669. Isaac
Newton was knighted in Cambridge in 1705. He was
buried in Westminster Abbey in 1727.
2NEWTONS LAW
OF GRAVITY
People thought that the forces on Earth and the
forces that make the planets move were different.
Sir Isaac Newton realised that all the forces and
the same laws of physics apply everywhere, even
in the universe. His law is called the law of
universal gravitation. There is gravitation
between any two things in the universe. The force
of gravity depends on the size, where the centre
of the object is and how far away from each other
the objects are. The larger the masses the larger
the gravitational force. The smaller the less
gravitational force.
3NEWTONS LAW
OF MOTION
2.Newtons second law says how much force is
needed. For example the bigger the object, the
harder it is to push.
1.Newtons first law says if something is moving
at a speed in a straight line it has constant
velocity. If its not moving it has a velocity of
zero. Either way, an outside force must act on
the object to change and give its velocity. The
tendency of objects to continue in their constant
speed straight line motion is called inertia. If
an object isnt moving it will not move unless an
outside force acts on it. For example if you put
a ball down it will not move unless you knock it
or another force like the wind moves it.
3.Newtons third law is simple, for every action
there is an equal and opposite reaction. If
gravity pulls you down, Sir Isaac Newtons law
means that your gravity pulls Earth up.
