General - I
  • Supplementary Rule Judges' of the B-juries on
all apparatus are entitled to adjust the total
deduction they have taken by 0.05 points if the
circumstances of the performance do not make a
definitive determination of the total deduction
possible. That means that if a B-judge has, for
example, deducted a total of 0.6 or 0.7, he may
apply a total deduction of 0.65.

14
General - II
  • Stretched versus piked positions are evaluated
completely by the A panel. That is, if an element
is intended to be performed stretched, but with a
slight pike, it is up to the A-panel to make this
evaluation via difficulty. There is no B-Panel
deduction for a slight pike. (FIG 9/7/97)

15
A Jury Deductions

  • Missing Special Requirement 0.4

one time. Elements that violate this rule will
    receive neither bonus nor value.
  • Elements or connections not eligible for bonus
may be repeated but will be recognized only twice
    by the A-jury.
  • FX a single element may used at most twice in
    connections of acrobatic saltos.

17
Repetition - II
  • A gymnast may not repeat a second element that is
eligible for or contributes to bonus points.
  • Skills not recognized cannot fulfill requirements
    or be used for dismounts.

  • Each salto is listed separately in the code - no
multiple bounding salto combinations are listed.

26
Floor ExerciseConnecting Saltos and Value Raising

    value as follows
  • B B C
  • B C or C B D
  • C C, D B, B D, C D or D C E
  • Value Raising of saltos The first 2 connected
saltos are combined, the 3rd and subsequent

  • A DSA on the leather must have at least one hand
between the pommels or the pommels between the
    hand
  • DSB's or DSA's following Russian wendeswings are
always split after the Russian wendeswing.

40
Pommel Horse - FIG II
  • Pommel Horse Four flops on the pommel, touch the
end in side support and four flops on the pommel
    WILL NOT receive connection bonus.
  • Nine flops on one pommel followed by 2/3 Sivado
EEBC(B). Because of the chronological rule of
recognition of elements, the nine pommel flops
cannot be evaluated as BEE to maximize bonus.

41
Pommel Horse - FIG III
  • Czechkehres , Kehres and Stockli backwards on the
leather are NOT flops, but direct Stocklis on the
leather ARE flops (FIG Code of Points, 9/8/97).

Still RingsConcepts I
  • Strength to strength no bonus
  • L Cross and Cross are the same value
  • Each identical finishing position on strength
    parts determines repetition.
  • Deductions are taken both for the initial entry
position (15) and for the actual hold position.

44
Still RingsConcepts II
  • A false grip on strength parts is a deduction
    (-0.1).
  • Unless indicated, crossed cables are the same
    value as straight cables.
  • Presses are recognized only if the beginning
strength part was recognized and end position is
    held at least 1 sec.

45
Still Rings - FIG I
  • If the arm bend is greater than 45, then the
felge to handstand is not recognized
  • If a gymnast performs a felge to inverted cross
between 30 and 45 above horizontal and lowers to
a inverted cross 10 degrees above horizontal
deduct 0.2 for the felge coming in too high, and
0.1 for the position on the hold.
  • Delete element VIII.3 on page 81. It is
incorrect. Correct are VIII.14 and VIII.18 on
    page 82.

46
Still RingsWhat is a Maltese?
  • Everything is a Planche unlessit is a Maltese!

47
Still Rings - FIG - II
  • A Maltese is recognized as such when the
shoulders and hips are at the level of the rings.
Anything higher is recognized as a planche. The B
panel never deducts for a high Maltese.(9/8/97
    Marcos).
  • The correct arm position on a Maltese is with the
hands flat to the ground. If the hands are turned
in, there is a deduction. If the body is resting
on the arms, there is non recognition.

48
Still RingsConcepts III
  • Yamawaki Stretched Eperformed continuously, no
    support
  • Planche legs together and Planche Straddled
    same ending position for repetition.
  • HS - lower to back lever, bounce to cross D

  • Swinging skills to handstand need not be held
  • There should be no pause between skills that
    receive connection bonus

    given the component values

56
Parallel Bars - FIG I
  • A swing or lift forward to a piked upper arm hang
starting position is considered to be a
half-intermediate swing and suffers a deduction
    of 0.2.
  • Similarly, mounts that begin with a piked
back-and-forth kip swing on one rail will be
    deducted 0.2 for a half-intermediate swing.

57
Parallel Bars - FIG II
  • Elements that lower to hang from handstand on one
rail must lower with straight arms. Deduct 0.1,
0.2, or 0.4 for bent arms depending on the degree
    of error.
  • Hop pirouette w. 1/1 turnE. If it pivots
partially on one arm backward or forward to
    handstand, then it is a D (FIG 9/8/97) .
  • Stutz and Toss to one rail must show support on
the rail prior to moving the hand back to the
second rail, otherwise a deduction will occur.

58
Parallel Bars - FIG III
  • Connections must be without pause to earn bonus
    points.
  • Pauses of less than one second may prevent

  • (Free flight giant, Quast Fwd or Bwd)
  • Tkachev Pike and Straddle are the same
  • (TK pike - Tk straddle - TK pike repetition)
