What is a mudslide

• A combination of heavy rainfall, steep slopes and
  loose soil causes most mudslides.

Where do mudslides most often occur

• Mudslides most often occur in mountainous areas
  where the ground is made of rocks that produce
  sandy soils.

When mudslides occur

• Mudslides occur during periods of intense
  rainfall or rapid snowmelt. They usually start on
  steep hillsides, liquefy and accelerate down the
  hill.

How it happens

• Mudslides happen when soil loosens enough to
  overcome the gravitational pull that keeps it in
  place.

Prevention or Protection

• To prevent mudslides you can two things PLANT
  VEGATATION or BUILD TERRACES

• Heavy rains came down on the northern coast of
  Venezuela causing horrible mudslides and leaving
  people homeless.

Our personal opinion

• The cool thing about working on mudslides is you
  learn new things. The bad part is why didnt we
  know about this sooner! We think it is a very
  serious thing. So all of us should try to prevent
  this from happening.
