2January 15,1929 Martin Luther King, Jr. was
born in Atlanta, Georgia.
3 Martin is asking if his friend can play, but
his friends mother said, Im sorry. He cant
play with you anymore. This was on his first
day of school. Martin was six and never forgot
this.
4In 1953 Martin Luther King, Jr. married Coretta
Scott. He met her in college.
5Martin Luther King, Jr. became a pastor in
Alabama in 1954.
6In 1956 Martin Luther King helped Rosa Parks and
other Blacks boycott the buses so all people
could ride the buses and sit where they wanted to
sit.
7 People had peaceful marches to get equal
rights for ALL people!
8Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested eight times
between 1956-1967.
9When he was in jail in 1963 he wrote a letter
saying it was his responsibility to disobey
unjust laws.
10Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial
prejudice will soon pass away and the deep fog of
misunderstanding will be lifted from our
fear-drenched communities and in some not too
distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and
brotherhood will shine over our great nation with
all their scintillating beauty.

11 On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King gave
his famous I Have a Dream speech in Washington,
D.C. More than 250,000 people were there.
12In 1964 Martin received the Nobel Peace prize
for his work to bring change in peaceful ways.
13Martin Luther King Jr.was assassinated at his
motel in Tennessee on April 4,1968.
