5Translational Technologies and ResourcesMission
and Vision
- Partner with institutional core resources to
support clinical and translational investigation - Make state-of-the-art technology resources
available to investigators at reasonable costs - Leverage available resources from NIH and other
granting agencies - Invest in novel methodology development
- Promote rapid translation of basic science
discoveries to improved human health
6Translational Technologies and ResourcesPrioritie
s and Timeframes
- Establish and report initial metrics (March 1)
- Incorporate cores into first overall CTSA
operational planning process (completed by May 1) - Inventory institutional capabilities and survey
user needs (third quarter 2007) - Adjust resource deployment as appropriate by the
time of the second operational plan (spring 2008)
7Translational Technologies and ResourcesMetrics
- Number of investigators served
- Number of protocols supported source of funding
(NIH , Foundations, industry etc) - Number of tests performed
- Distribution of funding for those served core
director vs. other users - Status of instrumentation and requests for new
technology - Number of publications from those served
- Number of new grants
8Translational Technologies and ResourcesCollabora
tion
- Currently engaged with multiple institutional
cores - Genomics
- Gene Vector Production Facility
- Imaging
- Proteomics
- Etc.
- Develop relationships among other CTSA sites to
address areas of weakness - e.g. Functional imaging
