Introduction to Training
  • As the UPL you are required to ensure that the
soldiers in your unit receive four (4) hours of
drug and/or alcohol training annually. In
addition, you will need to assist the commander
in briefing new soldiers on the Unit Substance
    Abuse Program.

Introduction to Training
  • Where do you get Training Materials?
  • The ACSAP website has some PowerPoint
presentations available to you for short classes.
  • There are 17 different presentations in this
training program that could be used for a short
    training class.
  • Your Prevention Coordinator will gladly help you
    with additional presentations, videos, guest
    speakers, etc.

  • You can also take the information that you have
been trained on to assist in creating your own
    classes on
  • How to be a good observer.
  • How do I self refer?
  • What does the lab test my urine for?
  • What if I am taking prescription medication?

Introduction to Training
  • These are just a few examples. Soldiers,
especially young soldiers have little to no
knowledge on the ASAP and its functions. Your
job is to educate them, so if one soldier needs
help, then he or she will know what to do and
    where to go.
  • So, you need to use the resources available to
you and be as creative as you can in your
    training.
