• Learn how DETS can help you
• Discuss how you can help each other
• Share important updates
• First of on-going meetings to come

DETSDistance Education Technology Services

• Ensure that distance learners receive the
  courses, services and programs they need from
  Student Affairs
• Ensure that Division employees have the
  technology they need to perform their duties
• Represent Student Affairs on various
  university-wide committees
• Serve as primary liaison with DE and Technology
  units

What Do You Need?

• Small Groups
• Five minutes
• Brainstorm Each group should generate three
  issues/resources/problems related to your roles
  as LANTechs and Webmasters
• Results?

DETS Helping You

• Provide information via email and web
• Provide training
• Provide individual consultation
• Represent your needs to Student Affairs
  administrators
• Represent your needs to the universitys
  technology units

Upcoming Projects

• Create better recognition and support for
  LANTechs and Webmasters
• Create a standard set of duties for the LANTech
  and Webmaster roles
• Have Directors incorporate these duties into your
  workplan and evaluation

Upcoming Projects

• Ensure that all LANTechs and Webmasters have
  appropriate knowledge and skills to meet minimum
  standards
• Assessment of your current knowledge, skills and
  comfort level with your role
• Referrals to existing training opportunities
• Conduct our own training
• Consultations with DETS

• Create an Ask the Experts resource
• Document who is really good at what
• GroupWise Dreamweaver listservs digital
  cameras, etc
• Each of you can then serve as a resource for each
  other
• More meetings for this group
• Need your input on frequency
• Can start on an as needed basis

Quick Updates - LANTechs

• NCS LANTech meetings will be optional
• DETS will attend and email the highlights
• Minutes on the NCS website
• Email expiration emails will expire
  (automatically deleted) once they become 90 days
  old.
• To be implemented this Fall semester
• Well do some training on how to archive
• Youll get lots of notice before this is started

• Web Statistics software
• Stephanie Hinz will lead an effort to investigate
  our options
• DETS will make a purchase for the whole Division
• Web Standards
• In draft format now
• Emailed to you soon discuss at next meeting
• PRR compliance
