• Groups of stars make up galaxies.
• We are located in the galaxy called the Milky
  Way.
• Groups of galaxies make up clusters.
• Our galaxy is located in a cluster called the
  local group.

Big Bang Theory

• All galaxies originated from one huge mass of
  densely packed matter.
• It exploded and scattered in all directions.
• Continues to expand today

Red Shift

• As galaxies move away the light they emit shows a
  red shift. The waves stretch out and get longer
  therefore we see the red part of the spectrum.
• As objects move towards us the wavelengths get
  shorter and therefore we see the blue end of the
  spectrum.
