Art Day Registration
  • Children grades 1-6 register for art classes
    based on six different renowned artists
  • Art Classes are taught by CSUB pre-service
    teachers in Art for the Elementary School
    course
  • Children select three classes each
  • At the end of the day, the children enjoy a
    family barbecue and a culminating exhibition of
    all the artwork

Stop Smell the Roses
  • Renowned artist Georgia OKeeffe grew up in
    Virginia. When she moved to New York city as an
    adult, she noticed that the fast paced residents
    of the city had little of nature to appreciate.
    So she water colored enlarged flowers.
  • Children enlarged a flower in watercolor.

Going for the Bronze
  • Remington created bronze casts scenes from the
    Old West to immortalize his works.
  • Children sculpted relief pictures of horses
    then bronze them with spray paint.

  • Seurat used the method of pointellist painting.
    He was inspired by the beaches of France and
    painted using tiny dots of color.
  • Children drew on rough sandpaper to simulate the
    pointellist look of color separation.

  • Edward Hicks was a self taught painter who was a
    Quaker minister. To supplement his income, he
    painted scenes from the Bible and included
    political themes in theme as well.

    living in harmony
