Introduction to anti-robbery training
1. The most important action a robbery victim
must master during a robbery is to remain calm,
or at least present the outward appearance of
being calm! 2. Even during a simulated robbery,
it is not uncommon for the victim to panic. 3.
Training and application are the keys to
minimizing the element of panic during a robbery.

1. Ensure all personnel receive initial
anti-robbery training and annual training
thereafter 2. Document the training 3. Send
the training confirmation to Jacqui Ireland (423
SFS/SFOR) 4. Maintain a copy in your resource
protection file/folder

PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW DURING ROBBERY
- REMAIN CALM
- - If you do not remain calm or keep your
composure, you will not be able to
obtain a good description - - A robber will rarely hurt you unless you
provoke them - - Dont be a HERO -- Your life is worth
more than anything kept in the facility you work
in - COOPERATE WITH THE ROBBER!!

- Comply fully with the robbers demands
- If you work in a funds facility hand the robber
the packet of pre-marked bills located inside the
cash drawer or container - If you work in a non-funds facility try to hand
the robber an easily identifiable item

- Obtain a physical description of the robber(s)
and record it on the AF Form 439, Robbery
Checklist - Try and obtain a direction of travel but DO NOT
FOLLOW the robber to get his/her direction of
travel

TECHNIQUE
1. Once you realize your being robbed, take
a brief glance at the upper portion of robber(s)
body (head to neck) - Make note of hair,
hat, complexion, eyes, glasses, scars, facial
hair, jewelry, sex, nationality, age, and height.

TECHNIQUE CONTINUED
2. While handing the robber the money or
goods, glance at the middle portion of his/her
body (shoulder to waist). - Make note of
jewelry, shirt, jacket, tie, pockets, name tags,
rank/stripes, any writing on clothing, belt, and
weight. To help you guess a robbers weight,
compare to your weight or to a co-workers.

3. As the robber departs, glance at the
lower portion of his/her body (waist to feet).
-Make note of pants, skirt, shorts, tennis
shoes, dress shoes, barefoot, etc..

LEAVES
- IF SAFE!! Activate the duress alarm.
- Alert co-workers and use teamwork.
- Use pre-determined, standardized code
- Notify Security Forces (ext. 2400)
- - Dial 2119 the Crime Stop Number from
any base phone - - DO NOT HANG UP THE PHONE! until told
to do so by the Desk Sergeant -

LEAVES
- SAFELY try and watch the robbers direction of
travel - - East, West, North, South, etc..
- - Car model, size, color, noticeable
damage, bumper stickers - - License number
- - Number of people in the vehicle

LEAVES
Protect the crime scene. - Isolate the
area where the robber(s) stood, walked etc..
- Keep people away from that area - Lock
the facility to keep people from entering or
leaving the facility - Terminate all
business transactions

FOLLOW-UP ACTIONS
- Handout AF Form 439s to all possible witnesses
- Inform personnel not to discuss the robbery
with anyone but AFOSI or Security Forces - Meet the responding Security Forces
Representative outside the facility, when
directed by the Desk Sergeant. - Continue to protect the crime scene until
released by AFOSI or Security Forces

TECHNIQUE TO OBTAIN DESCRIPTION - SOUND THE ALARM (WHEN SAFE TO DO SO)
- SECURE/PROTECT THE CRIME SCENE
- NOTIFY OTHERS TO OBTAIN ASSISTANCE
- TRY TO OBTAIN MODE/DIRECTION OF TRAVEL
- NOTIFY SECURITY FORCES (DIAL 2400)
