- Go, Slow, and Whoa!
- Starting January 2009for your ala carte menu
-
What????
10Okay, think of it this way
WHOA!
SLOW..
GO!!
11Starting in January
- The Ala Carte menu items will be divided into
three categories - GO Foods
- SLOW Foods
- WHOA Foods
New Menu Boards! New Color Coded Ala Carte
Tables! New Posters and Prompts!
12GO Foods!
- These are foods that are good to eat almost
anytime. They are the healthiest ones. - Example skim milk.
- You may purchase any number of items from the GO
FOODS Menu
13SLOW Foods!
These are sometimes foods. They aren't
off-limits, but they shouldn't be eaten every day
and/or you should limit the number of items you
eat at one time. Example baked chips and
granola bars You may purchase TWO items from
the SLOW FOODS Menu
14WHOA Foods!
These foods should make you say exactly
thatWhoa! Should I eat that? Whoa foods are the
least healthy and the most likely to cause weight
problems, especially if a person eats them all
the time. That's why Whoa foods are
once-in-a-while foods. Example ice cream bars or
cupcakes. You may purchase ONE item from the WHOA
FOODS Menu when items are offered (once a month)
15So, lets reviewstarting in January the ala
carte menu will work like this
- GO Foods ANYTIME foods
- You may buy as many as you would like each day.
- SLOW Foods Sometimes foods
- You may buy two per day.
- WHOA Foods Once-in-a-while foods
- You may purchase one when items are offered,
about once a month.
16How Can YOU Get Involved?
- Student Council members have formed a team to
help oversee this program Da Sprouts! - This team will be meeting to discuss, suggest,
and select menu items! - YOU can talk to your student council rep. and
make your own suggestions for the menu our goal
is the increase the GO foods and reduce the SLOW
foods we will need your ideas! - Get onboard! Be positive this program is
designed to teach you about making healthier food
choices.
17Now, lets test your skills
- Student council members will represent each
class. - I will name a food item currently found in your
ala carte program or that you might have at home. - Student council members will represent their
class and write down which category the class
thinks the food item belongs in - For each correct answer the class earns a point
