BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

PHILOSOPHY
  • The impact a teacher makes on a childs life is
    priceless. The teacher can plant a seed of hope,
    encouragement, drive to succeed, positive
    attitude of themselves and others that will last
    forever. The teacher may not see the seed
    flourish, yet the impact is still there. To
    enrich a childs life is worth every graded
    paper, created lesson plan, and long work day.
    To teach is to apply knowledge and skills to
    produce true understanding.

CLASSROOM RULES
  • Raise your hand when you desire to talk, or want
    to get up from your seat.
  • Be prepared and on time to work on lessons.
  • Respect and be polite to others at all times.
  • Listen quietly while others are speaking.

CONSEQUENCES(Every action results in a
consequence. Consequences are not punishments.
It is simply what happens when a person does
something)
  • 1st Verbal warning.
  • 2nd Name on the board.
  • 3rd One check by name, 15 minutes after school on
    Thursday. As well as a 2 page paper on the
    importance of following rules.
  • 4th Referral written and submitted to office, as
    well as student is sent to the office and a call
    home.
  • Severe Disturbance
  • Names and checks will be erased at the end of
    every school day.

  • DAILY Group desk points
  • Sunshine notes home
  • WEEKLY Class free time on Friday
  • (no detentions issued)
  • MONTHLY Popcorn and Video day
  • Field Trip or Activity
  • (80 or higher participation)
  • MARKING PERIOD Ice cream party
  • (100 participation)
  • SEMESTER Grade reward party
  • (no office visits, and written referrals)

BELIEFS ABOUT RULES
  • Classroom rules, consequences and rewards will be
    posted on bulletin board.
  • Each student has a contract copy that will be
    signed by parents and students in agreement of
    rules.

GENERAL PROCEDURES
  • BEGINNING OF CLASS
  • Attendance Check
  • There will be an attendance task on the dry
    erase board for students to complete by placing
    individuals name in the appropriate spot by the
    time the bell rings.
  • Homework Station
  • After entering class, and taking attendance,
    turn in homework in individual folder displayed
    on counter. Any return homework will be graded
    and in the folder for pick up at that time.
  • Board lesson
  • In the beginning of class, there will be a brief
    assignment/ task on the chalkboard to be
    completed in individuals seats to be prepared
    for the days lesson.

GENERAL PROCEDURESmovement in the classroom
  • Drinking fountain, sink, pencil sharpener
  • Only one student at a time when teacher is not
    conducting to the whole class.
  • Talk among students
  • During small group activities, students may
    talk at a low volume, when teacher is not
    instructing. (move chairs to form groups)
  • When lights are turned off and back on,
    students should become silent and look at the
    teacher.
  • When seatwork is completed
  • Students may work on other projects that are
    needing attention, or work at one of the
    centers. (computers, science, spelling, etc).

GENERAL PROCEDURES(CONTINUE)
  • Fire Drills/Tornado Drills
  • -Everyone gathers in a line in a quiet
    manner, and follows instructor to specified
    location.
  • Assemblies and Performances
  • -Everyone sits with class, quietly and still.
    Students only respond to speaker when asked.

Out of the Room Policies
  • Walking in the Hallway
  • Students will walk in a straight line,
    following classroom leader of the week.
    Students will be silent and keeping hands to
    ones sides.
  • Recess Rules
  • Classroom and school rules apply on the
    playground. When signal is displayed all
    students in my class will immediately gather
    near me until all students are accounted for.
    Then we will proceed indoors.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
  • Computers
  • -During work time 3 students can be at the
    computer station, working at a low volume.
  • P.A. Announcements
  • -Everyone is to stop what they are doing, and
    listen quietly.
  • Scissors, Paper, Glue, Rulers
  • -Materials are organized in specified boxes for
    appropriate use and time.

End of the School Day Procedures
  • Clean desk and floor around individual desk.
  • Complete weekly job in the last 15 minutes of
    school.
  • Retrieve backpacks and coats and return to desk.
  • Stack chairs on individual desk.
  • Meet on the carpet with your belongings ready to
    have final comments from teacher before leaving
    for the day.
