• Dr. Pam Cangelosi, School of Nursing, named a
  2008 recipient of the University Teaching
  Excellence Award
• Dr. Sue Durham, School of Nursing, awarded the
  2008 CHHS Habit of Excellence Award
• Dr. Lynn Gerber, Center for the Study of Chronic
  Illness and Disability, named a Mason University
  Professor, the highest honor awarded by the
  University to distinguished faculty members

• Dr. Joyce Hahn, School of Nursing, has been
  appointed by Governor Kaine to the Virginia Board
  of Nursing
• Dr. Emily Ihara, Department of Social Work,
  selected as NIH trainee for the Collaborative
  Psychiatric Epidemiology Surveys
• Dr. Ann Maradiegue, School of Nursing, was
  inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of
  Nurse Practitioners

Honored Faculty

• Mr. Jay Shiver, Department of Health
  Administration and Policy, was appointed a Life
  Fellow of the American College of Healthcare
  Executives.
• Dr. Jennie Wu, School of Nursing, received two
  awards for enabling nursing reform (practice and
  education) in China. The first from Beijing
  University Hospital Administration recognized her
  efforts to enable adoption of the nursing process
  and nursing outcomes in nursing practice. The
  second award from the Beijing Medical Education
  Association recognized her 17 years of dedicated
  service to nursing reform in China.

• Sara Lash, Health Administration and Policy, was
  selected as one of 10 students nationwide to
  receive a David A. Winston Health Policy
  Scholarship
• Sarah Day, Global and Community Health, received
  the annual Photography Award from the Global
  Health Council for her work in Africa

• Dr. Karen Drenkard and Dr. Barbara Hatcher, PhD
  School of Nursing, have been selected for
  induction in the American Academy of Nursing. Dr.
  Drenkard is Director of the Magnet Recognition
  Program of the American Nursing Association and
  Dr. Hatcher is Director of Scientific and
  Professional Affairs at the American Public
  Health Association.
• Leigh Traylor, School of Nursing, was the Mason
  spotlighted alum in June 9, 2008 issue of
  Newsweek for our Think. Learn. Succeed national
  press series

• Clarify and refine research foci to guide faculty
  recruitment, graduate program development, and
  research productivity
• Enhanced delivery via distance education and
  increase enrollment especially in graduate

• 1. Implement Health Policy and Ethics Speaker

  GMU

  Center visibility and reputation
