2008-2009 Testing Update

• Reading and Math grade 3-8 and 11
• Science assessment grades 5, 8, and 11
• (not part of AYP)
• 3rd graders will have a separate answer document
• 3rd graders can but are NOT required to use
  calculators
  
• 8 forms of the Dakota STEP
• Rulers will NOT be provided for students.
• All students can write in their test booklets
  using pencil ONLY. (No markers, highlighters,
  pens can be used)
  
• Any type of scratch paper can be used.

• Science and Math reference sheets may be removed
  from test booklets
  
• New Dakota STEP Parent Fact Sheet
• This parent fact sheet can be used to send out if
  districts have not created their own.
  
• New ELP test and identifier
• ACCESS (new test)
• WAPT (new ELP identifier)
• New ELP standards
• Contest for new cover for the 2010 Dakota STEP
  test.
  
• New reading cut scores

Dakota STEP-Large Print/Braille

• Confer with SPED staff on students needing Large
  Print and Braille booklets before October 20th.
  
• Confer with SPED staff on any changes to orders
  by December 1st.
  
• Any changes notify Elizabeth Gordon.
