YOUR BEST STARTING POINT!!!
Fitness, Exercise, Energy
Nutrition Food Supplements
Clean Air and Water
Sleep, Rest, Relaxation
14Sleep, Rest, Relaxation
- Sleep deprivation is widespread in America.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, a
majority of American adults experience frequent
sleep problems. - Decreased sleep time or lack of restful sleep can
compromise our immune system by as much as 50.
It can lead to irritability, moodiness, inability
to concentrate, decreased resistance to stress
and other medical conditions. - There are sleep cycles. The first few cycles are
associated with physical repair and restoration,
and the last cycle, REM sleep is associated with
brain repair and restoration.
15Good Sleep Options
- Get enough exercise during the day. Remember
that 30-minute walk will make a difference. - Don't eat heavy foods near bedtime.
- Do something relaxing like reading or taking a
warm bath. - Don't watch TV programs or movies that are
violent or upsetting right before you go to bed. - Keep your sleeping room well ventilated.
- Finally, be more particular about what you sleep
on.
16Clean Air Water
- Air quality - We have inversions in the Spokane
area. It is a good idea to curtail outdoor
activities during this time. - Smoking - Don't, and even if you did your lungs
can improve dramatically even after years of
abuse because the lung tissue regenerates. - Deep breathing - most of us don't breath deeply
especially when we are nervous or anxious. Deep
breathing ensures we get the full benefit of
oxygen. - More. . .
17Clean Air Options
- Choose to walk, bike, share rides, or use public
transit - Making sure our automobiles are properly
maintained to avoid adding to the emissions
already generated - Dont leave a vehicle idling for more than 30
seconds - Keep our furnaces and other heating sources in
good repair - Minimize our use of chemicals that end up
airborne - Utilize good quality air filters to eliminate
indoor air pollution. - More. . .
18Clean Air Water (cont.)
- Our bodies are 70 water. Our total body water
is replaced about every 15 days. For our
health's sake, we should be drinking 6 to 10
eight-ounce glasses of clean water per day. If
you're not doing this, you're probably
dehydrated. - Dehydration symptoms are not just dry mouth and
skin. They include headaches, sinus problems,
joint discomfort, digestive problems, heart
problems, high blood pressure, high cholesterol,
stress, sleep disorders, depression, etc. - Chlorine used to purify water is toxic, as is the
ozone used to purify most bottled water.
19Clean Water Options
- Choose filtered water that has a minimum (or no)
contaminants. - Ensure filtered water contains necessary
minerals. De-mineralized water leaches minerals
from your body. - Drink filtered, mineralized water with a PH
factor that is basic or alkaline.
20Nutrition Food Supplements
- Eat balanced - Most of us tend not to because
we're harried and on the run. - Eat the freshest food available - Fruits and
vegetables look good and there are a lot of them,
but the vitamins and minerals they used to
contain aren't there because our soil is
depleted. Wash your produce well in clean,
filtered water. - Take nutritional supplements Research, find the
best ones, and take them daily.
21Fitness, Exercise Energy
- Fitness Exercise THE MAGIC BULLET????
According to the chart below, in 2003 at least 39
million Americans bet that fitness and exercise
were at least an important part of the key to
Good Health.
22Fitness, Exercise Energy
- Make Fitness Exercise an integral part of your
Wellness Program, not the TOTAL SOLUTION.
Remember you can look FIT and be SICK.
