First Responder
  • WHERE DO I USE IT?
  • Scenario APolice arrive at the scene of an early
stage fire. After assisting in getting people
out and before firefighters arrive at the scene,
toss Stat-X First Responders into the rooms which
are involved with the fire. This will buy time
for further rescue and for the firefighters to
    arrive.
  • Scenario BFirefighters are concerned about
potential flashover from a fire down a hall and
water isnt yet available. Toss Stat-X First
Responders ahead of the firefighters to reduce
    the risk of flashover.
  • Scenario CA firefighter is trapped or cant get
to a victim due to an intense area of fire. Toss
a First Responder into the flame area for
    immediate fire suppression.

  • How can something that small actually KNOCKDOWN
    OR POSSIBLY EXTINGUISH fires?
  • The Stat-X First Responder utilizes the same
highly effective fire extinguishing agent which
is used in our listed fixed fire extinguishing
systems. This compound is the most effective
fire extinguishing agent available today. The
First Responder is designed to suppress the fire
to achieve the intended objective, i.e., reach
trapped occupants, find means of egress, etc.
    Any extinguishment is a bonus.

Over how large an area can the First Responder
suppress a fire? In a typical room (10ft x 10ft
x 8 ft high, approx 800 cubic feet ) it will have
a major suppressant or extinguishing effect. For
a larger area, additional units may be required.
Does it explode like a grenade? No. The unit
remains intact and releases a jet of aerosol in a
circle around the base of the unit over a period
of approximately 20 seconds. Does it deplete
the oxygen in the room? No. There is no oxygen
depletion or reduction. The First Responder
stops fire by interfering with the chemistry
underlying fire, not by changing the atmosphere.

Stat-X inhibits the ability of the fire to fuel
itself through interaction with free radicals
O, OH, H.

First Responder Extinguishing Mechanism
Fire propagation radicals are essential
elements in the propagation of the fire OH, H,
and O. Stat-X suppresses the fire (primarily) by
chemical interference with these free radicals
within the fire zone thus interrupting the
on-going fire reaction. Potassium radicals (K)
are the main active component of Stat-X aerosol.
They are very active and react with these
propagation radicals much like the bromine
radicals do in Halons. The chemical reaction may
be represented as follows, for example K OH
KOH KOH H K H2O K OH, etc

First Responder
Does it deplete the oxygen in the room? No.
There is no oxygen depletion or reduction. The
First Responder stops fire by interfering with
the chemistry underlying fire, not by changing
the atmosphere. What happens if someone is
trapped in the room? The aerosol will be the
least of their problems. While it can be a mild
lung irritant if there is long exposure, the
combustion products and heat of the flame are
much more deadly. However, the First Responder
cannot be thrown close to the victim as it jets
out a hot cloud close to the unit.

QUALITY and RELIABILITY are PARAMOUNT The First
responder is a tool utilized in life and death
situations. As such, it must function reliably
and consistently when used. The First Responder
is activated by a modified M228 fuse,
manufactured to MIL-SPEC DTL9235210 and the final
assembly has undergone rigorous testing to
MIL-STD-331. Each unit is subject to 100 X-Ray
testing during the manufacturing process to
further insure the reliability of each First
