The Bush Administration The Unusual Group
  • There are three major branches of groups with
    strong political conviction.
  • PUBLIC INTEREST GROUPS These groups have been
    most visible in consumer protection and
    environmental policy areas, although public
    interest groups cover a broad range of issues.

  • IDEOLOGICAL GROUPS- Closely related to and in
    many ways overlapping public interest groups are
    ideological groups, organized in support of
    particular political or philosophical
    perspective.
  • PUBLIC SECTOR GROUPS- The perceived need for
    representation on Capitol Hill has generated a
    public-sector lobby in the past several years,
    including the National League of Cities and the
    research lobby.

    group, as it is the executive branch, and
    comprised of a cabinet appointed by an elected
    official. (The President)

  • KARL ROVE IS WHY.
  • The election of president Bush and the makeup of
    the republican party in America is orchestrated
    by one man. Rove is also been pointed to as the
    one who hand-picked Pres. Bush cabinet.

    Republican party, and acting chief of staff.

    Reform through the government)
  • explanation Karl Rove raised in strict
    Christian household. Parents divorced and then
    mother committed suicide, 5 years later he
    started his political career as the head of the
    George W. Bush congressional campaign.

    dollars into prestigious secondary insitutions,
    which have very strong lobbyist. Also has strong
    ties and employment positions with companies who
    have public sector lobbyist. (Chevron
    Corporation, the Charles Schwab Corporation, the
    William and Flora Hewlett Foundation,
    Transamerica Corporation, Hewlett Packard, The
    Carnegie Corporation, The Carnegie Endowment for
    International Peace, The Rand Corporation, and
    KQED, public broadcasting for San Francisco. )

  • Have brought attention and action to such topics
    ranging from Gay rights and marriage, to
    abortion.

  • After congress (which is controlled by
    republicans.) approved defense contracts for the
    war on terror. Many of Mr. Cheneys companies
    received contracts.
  • Halliburton has increased profits over 100
    since September 11th .
