• Introduction to Web Site Development

Goals

• This course will enable students to develop and
  design web pages using Hypertext Markup Language,
  and Microsoft FrontPage 2002.
• This course will prepare students for publishing,
  presenting, and effectively evaluating web pages
  for e-Commerce applications.

Objectives

• Students will program HTML documents using
  defined formatting characteristics, and
  containing lists, images, tables hyperlinks,
  forms, and metadata.
• Each student will design a personal web page
  using FrontPage 2002, and make an oral
  presentation of their design.

Objectives

• Each student will publish their web page to
  demonstrate their ability to function in a
  networked environment.
• Students will learn to implement an effective web
  site for e-Commerce applications by analyzing a
  commercial web site, and submitting a written
  assignment evaluating its consumer
  user-friendliness.

Curriculum

• Students will be creating HTML documents in
  Notepad, and Microsoft FrontPage 2002.
• Each class period will contain lecture,
  discussion, and use of the lab computers for
  either programming HTML documents, or using
  applications of FrontPage 2002.

• Oral communication skills will be demonstrated by
  presentation of personal web pages.
• Written communication skills will be demonstrated
  through submission of a written assignment
  evaluating a commercial web site.

Curriculum

• One interim exam and a final exam will be given.
• Students will also be required to submit answers
  to chapter questions, or exercises utilizing the
  software for a grade.
• Class participation will also contribute to the
  students grade.

Continuity of the Curriculum

• This will be achieved by preparing the students
  for CIS 325, Web Publishing Techniques, through
  the goals and objectives stated for the course.
• Through assignments, programming, exercises, and
  written and oral communication, the students will
  have the tools needed to succeed in CIS 325.

• The ability to program hands on using HTML to
  produce web pages with images, lists, tables,
  forms, hyperlinks, and metadata.
• The ability to understand how FrontPage 2002
  operates, and its capabilities for developing web
  pages.
• The exposure to SGML, DHTML, XML, CSS, and other
  trends in dynamic web page development.

• The knowledge of the Internet, and the World Wide
  Web needed to publish their own web page using
  WSFTP.
• The enhancement of their oral and written
  communication skills.
• The enhancement of their personal productivity
  through the use of computer software.
