Title: Human Factors Affecting Cellular Phone Competency

1
Human Factors Affecting Cellular Phone
Competency
2
Objectives
  • Study and measure human factors related to cell
    phones.
  • Collect adequate data to test for usability
  • Gather data from a random source
  • Analyze results of human factors found

3
What are human factors ?
4
Literature Review Example of Human Error
  • In one state alone, there were 64,000 accidental
    calls to 911 over a one-year span (Sleeth, 2002)
  • Because of placement of a one touch service, in
which 911 was reached with out dialing, just
    pressing the emergency key
  • Finger size, visual or cognitive impairment and
    large girth
  • ?

5
Our study criteria
  • Compare and contrast 2 cell phones designed by
    Motorola-i530 and i710

  • Asked for participation
  • Struggled to find participants in specific age
    categories

8
Data analysis
  • 15-25 users -Frequent
  • 25-35 users- Infrequent/Frequent
  • 35-45 users- Infrequent/First-time

9
Improvements
  • Increased number of plans offered
  • Create your own plan to your needs
  • Offer minimal plans with up grades
  • Keys should be more user friendly

10
Conclusion
  • We came to the conclusion that everyone has
different cellular phone needs. For a company to
meet all of their consumers requirements,
extensive research with end users will have to be
carried out, to identify all of the human factors
that need to be considered so they can provide
    appropriate cell phone choices.
