• TheCAT provides access to building and general
  access labs
• Yearly renewal needed by Oct 10
• Access to dept specific labs handled by
  individual departments
• Report suspicious activity
• Do not let people in if they do not have card
  access - have them get their cards turned on

• All General Windows labs have 3.2ghz Dual Core

• Do not lock stations without informing us via
  e-mail
• All users have access to Linux (must behave well)

• Some linux desktops available in general labs
• OIT has a research cluster

Printing

• You all get a starting print quota (20)
• Up to 1000 pages of bw per term (color will eat
  it up faster)
• Color available in main labs
• BW-only jobs to color printers treated as color
  print jobs
• New credit added the night before the first day
  of classes each term
• Need to pay if quota runs out

• Starting
• Windows 150 meg
• UNIX/Linux 1 gig
• Universal Space (unix)
• Universal Space 1 gig
• Accessible from windows as U drive
• UNIX/Linux homedir
• Faculty must request increases

• Available on file servers for user accts
• Large backed up research stashes available
  (research groups may have to subsidize their own
  storage allocation). Ask.
• Un-backed up networked stashes available. Ask.

E-mail

• Make sure you read your college e-mail (read
  locally or forward to your remote e-mail account)
• Your new/old e-mail collects in your UNIX home
  directory - if it runs over quota, new e-mails
  will be rejected
• Make sure you clean out your old/un-needed e-mails

• Requires OIT or College acct for auth
• Use NoCat or CAT VPN

  Maseeh College

P2P/File Sharing Stuff

• Do not install and run file sharing apps on lab
  computers (and get caught by a bot)
• Watch out for your file sharing apps when you get
  on our VPN
• You can get noticed if you become a bandwidth hog
  or when.
• RIAA/MPAA-bots periodically go on the warpath
• The RIAA can sue you and we have to turn you in
