    Kiwanis International and The Childrens
    Hospital
  • Started in 1994 by formal action of the Delegates
    at the District Convention as the service project
    of the Rocky Mountain District

WOW Facts
  • Peak workforce of 1,200 construction crew
    members.
  • Seven million pounds of reinforcing steel
    supports 34,000-cubic-yards of concrete.
  • Two parking garages that provide protection from
    the weather for 1,200 cars.
  • A 250,000-square-foot office building that houses
    physicians and their practices.
  • More than 16,000 light fixtures that illuminate
    halls, patient rooms, treatment areas and
    surgeries.
  • Three football fields that fit into the new
    facilitys basement. The buildings contain 842
    miles of wiring running through 238 miles of
    conduit.
  • In all, there are 23 elevators moving patients,
    staff, and visitors up and down the hospitals 10
    levels.
  • It took 90 tractor trailers to deliver the air
    handling units necessary for the hospital.

    including the 8 stations within the Junglemobile

    use of safety products including car seats,
    booster seats, bike helmets and first aide kits

    and encouraging parents to have a plan when
    caring for an infant

    injury prevention coalitions

    safety topics and preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome

What Has KPTI Done?

  • 15,000 bicycle helmets distributed
  • 3,600 child car restraints distributed and almost
    twice as many car seats inspected
  • 244 visits by the Junglemobile throughout the
    RMDK traveling 90,000 miles
  • 60,000 children received safety education from
    Junglemobile
  • 150 safety injury prevention education seminars
  • Built 2 injury prevention coalitions
  • Helped strengthen child passenger safety laws and
    other laws aimed at protecting children from
    injury
  • Reached more than 1.5 million adults about Shaken
    Baby Syndrome
