Title: Esort machines

1
E-sort machines
  • Single-stage multi-polymer automatic sorting
    lines.
  • Automatic system for detection and separation of
PVC and other unwanted polymers from a pre-sorted
    stream of PET material.

2
Principles of E-sort Machines
  • They identify consumer plastics by their type and
color in a stream of commingled material and
    perform their sorting
  • Systems are based on principles of IR- and
visible spectroscopy and they integrate all
    scientific and technical achievements and
knowledge that have been gained in this industry.
  • Identification and sorting is done in parallel
for plastics of different types and colors using
a single optical sensor and sorting line, and
this, therefore, enables one-stage processing of
    polymer streams.

3
Principles of E-sort Machines
  • . Another version of this product is used to
    purify contaminated single-polymer streams to
very low, gt 99.5 , contamination levels (PET
streams with PVC fractions is a typical example).
High operating speed of these systems allows
simultaneous processing of up to 1 ton per hour
    of a commingled in-feed stream using E-Sort
1000 sorter and up to 2 tons per hour using
E-Sort 2000 sorter. The sorted material can be
then immediately recycled or sold for further
    recycling.

4
Benefits and Advantages
  • One-stage parallel sorting of polymers of several
types and colors with highest purity of the
sorted material. No double sorting. No
    multiple-stage sorting.
  • Compact size. Can be easily integrated into an
    existing polymer recycling line.
  • Operating 24-hours. No manual sorting. No wrong
sorting. One single-line system can replace up
to 4 - 6 laborers employed simultaneously for
    manual sorting.
  • Easy to reprogram and reconfigure to perform
sorting both on new plastics and for different
    sorting requirements.
  • The presence of dirt and labels on plastics does
not affect efficiency of sorting in most cases.
  • Safe to operate. No dangerous radiation such as
    laser and X-rays.
  • Simplicity in operation. Single button enables
the system and it requires only occasional
attendance. Easy to maintain. Can operate in
    harsh industrial conditions.
  • Very competitive prices. Includes 12-month
warranty, technical support and free software
    updates

Single-stage multi-polymer automatic sorting
lines
  • E-Sort 1000 Automatic Sorter of Plastic Bottles
    (1000 kg per hour capacity)
  • Sort 2000 Automatic Sorter of Plastic Bottles
    (2000 kg per hour capacity)
  • Intended for single-stage sorting of various
plastic bottles by their polymer type and color.
  • Systems incorporate high speed conveyors,
    sophisticated spectral equipment, optics,
optical-fiber products and they rely on the most
    advanced spectra identification algorithms.
  • The operation principles A single-stage
    automatic sorting line incorporates three
    principal parts singulation module, optical
detection identification unit (sensor) and a
high speed main sorting conveyor fitted with a
set of ejection ports. The singulation module
performs single-filing of the bottles of the
initial polymers stream. Then the stream is fed
onto the main sorting conveyor which delivers the
bottles to the sensor. Each bottle is exposed to
light radiation from the light box and their IR
    and visible transmission and backscattered
spectra are analyzed by the sensor so that their
type and color are determined simultaneously.
The identified therefore bottles are then
delivered to the specified ejection ports (each
port is programmed to remove only one fraction of
the stream from the belt) and a jet of compressed
air blows the bottles off the conveyor into the
    corresponding collectors/containers. All
    non-plastic fractions, unwanted plastics and
unidentified objects move on to the end of the
conveyor where they are sent to waste. The high
speed conveyor is a vacuum conveyor, and a
pressure blower is used to provide vacuum
engagement to secure bottles on its belt.
  • The system is run by a specially developed
computer program by means of an industrial
computer and electronics located in specially
    designed electrical cabinets.
  • The system is started and stopped by pushing a
START/STOP button and it requires no attendance
during operating. All unidentified items can be
re-routed to the in-feed for another
    identification and sorting cycle.

Units of the machine
  • Vibration chute
  • Optical Detection Identification Unit (Sensor).
It consists of Light Box, Optics, Spectral
    instruments, Industrial Computer and Optical
    fiber line (2 units if E-Sort 2000)
  • Electrical Cabinet to operate the sensor (2 units
    if E-Sort 2000)
  • Main sorting conveyor (2 units if E-Sort 2000)
  • Pressure blowers
  • Compressed air line and ejection ports (air
compressor is not included) (2 units if E-Sort
    2000)
  • Conveyors control module to operate conveyors (2
    units if E-Sort 2000)
  • Peripheral platforms to provide access to the
conveyors for manual sort or maintenance
  • Software and Operation Instructions.

8
Units of the machine
  • Containers for collecting sorted material are not
supplied by SpectraSort Ltd and are provided by
the buyer. Air compressors can be provided by
SpectraSort Ltd at an additional cost. The
in-feed conveyor can also be provided by
SpectraSort Ltd at request at an additional cost.
  • The E-Sort automatic sorter of plastic bottles
can be configured to operate as a stand-alone
sorting line or be integrated into existing
polymers recycling lines. This system can also
be reprogrammed to sort polymers and colors
different from those specified initially without
    changing the initial hardware configuration.

9
Technical Data
  • All details are approximate and may vary
depending on quality of the in-feed material.

Automatic system for detection and separation of
PVC and other unwanted polymers from a pre-sorted
stream of PET material E-Sort Micro
  • The E-Sort Micro PVC detection and separation
system is intended for automatic extraction of
PVC bottles from pre-sorted streams of PET
material contaminated with them. The degree of
contamination level after separation is below
    50ppm PVC.
  • This system incorporates sophisticated spectral
equipment optics, optical-fiber products and it
relies on the most advanced spectra
    identification algorithms.
  • The operation principles The system comprises
two conveyors, which are set at different levels,
    optical detection identification unit (sensor)
and an ejection port. These two conveyors break
the polymers stream. The gap between them is
employed to provide an optical path between the
light source, a special reflector and the optical
collimators of the sensor. All articles that
reach the gap are exposed to light radiation and
the sensor analyzes their transmitted and
backscattered light spectra. Those of the
bottles with spectra different from the PET
spectrum are removed from the stream by means of
a jet of compressed air from a nozzle installed
transversally with respect to the feeding
    conveyor into a special collector/container.
  • The whole system is run by a specially developed
computer program by means of an industrial
computer and electronics located in a specially
designed electrical cabinet. The system is
started and stopped by pushing a START/STOP
button and it requires no attendance during
    operating.
