2
What is UDL?
  • UDL The practice of embedding flexible
strategies into the curriculum during the
planning process so that ALL students can access
a variety of learning solutions (cast.org)

3
What is UDL (cont)?
  • UDL shifts old assumptions about learning
  • Students with disabilities fall along a continuum
of learners rather than as a separate category
  • Teacher adjustments will occur for all students,
not just those with documented disabilities
  • Curriculum materials will be varied and diverse
    and include electronic/digital resources rather
than just centered around a textbook
  • Rather than remediating students, the curriculum
should be flexible to accommodate learner
    differences

4
What is UDL (cont)?
  • UDL is built on the premise that there is no one
    kind of learning
  • Learning differs across task
  • Learning differs across development
  • Learning differs across individuals
