The USA- Some Facts

• The USA is the worlds third largest country in
  terms of land mass
• It has a population of over 275million
• Over the last 300 years, people from all over the
  world have immigrated into the USA to improve
  their living standards and enjoy freedoms that
  the US offers.
• Due to immigration the population is described as
  being multinational

• The Main groups in American society are
• Whites 75
• Blacks 11
• Hispanics 9
• Asians 3
• Native Americans 1

Ethnic Groups in the USA

• Whites are mostly descendants of immigrants who
  came from Europe many years ago.
• Blacks- Also called African-Americans. Most
  Blacks ancestors came from Africa as slaves

• Hispanics. These people speak Spanish as their
  first language and come from countries close to
  America like Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico
• Asians- Mostly Chinese and Japanese but also from
  Vietnam, Korea and the Philippines

• Native Americans-
• This group are descendants of the Indian tribes.
  They are among the poorest groups in America today
