2Silly putty consists of 65 silicon...
...and 17 silica.
3- Siloxane and silica are both forms of silicon.
Silicon is a semi-metallic element. - It is the second most common element on earth,
silicon is in group 14 on the periodic table. - It consists of about 28 of earths crust.
- Silly putty is made from this because it molds
easily.
4Silly putty is also made out of thixotrol
ST, polydimentyl siloxane, and decamethyl
cyclopent asioxame.
These all play a special part in silly putty.
5Who invented
Silly putty?
6James Wright and Peter Hodgson Sr. were the
inventors of silly putty. They created it by
mixing silicone with boric acid.
7How silly putty was started.
In 1949 Paul Hodgson happened to witness a
demonstration of nutty putty at a party and
bought twenty-one pounds of it and then he
decided to market it.
8How Silly Putty is Made
9Silicon and its properties Silicon is a semi
metallic element. It was first isolated from its
compounds in 1823 by the Swedish chemist. It is
prepared as a brown powder.
It is obtained by heating silica.
10The materials that are used in silly putty can be
recycled and be reused over and over again.
