Adobe Bridge is software bundled in Adobe
Creative Suite 2. It allows, among other things,
the embedding of user-specified metadata in
image files.
Browsing window
Favorites and Folders window
Preview window
Metadata and Keywords window
3
Accessing Bridge
Click on the Bridge icon or
from Photoshop, choose File gt Browse
Using the Browsing window or the Folders and
Favorites window, find the directory where your
images are stored
4
Setting Preferences
The type and amount of metadata saved for each
image can be specified in the Preferences. Go to
Bridge gt Perferences. Click Metadata in the list
on the left.
Place a checkmark beside the Supports XMP box.
The Preferences will remain the next time you
open Bridge, but its a good idea to check.
Click OK
5
Entering Data
Clicking on an image in the Browsing window will
bring up the Information embedded in that image
in the Metadata window. Information can be
appended simply by entering it field by field.
If you try to select another image or move to the
Keywords tab, a dialog box will open asking if
you want to apply your changes. Click
Apply. You can also apply your changes by
clicking on the checkmark at the lower right of
the Metadata tab.
6
Keywords
Keywords can be assigned under the Keywords tab.
Click on the arrow at the top right and select
New Keyword Set. Name the set and hit the return
key. To add keywords to the new set, again click
the arrow at the top right and select New
Keyword. Type the new keyword and hit the return
key. Assign the keyword by clicking the checkbox
to the left of the word.
Keywords can be moved from set to set by
clicking and dragging them up and down the list.
The Keywords will now appear in the Keywords
field of the Metadata tab.
