  • Appears to be a reputable and legitimate website.
  • Spy ware infiltrating into your computer without
    your knowledge.

for personal information via unsolicited emails
which appear to be from financial institutions
that you may do business with.

Phishing - What to look for?
  • Emails express a sense of urgency.
  • Emails may contain grammatical errors.
  • Asking for personal information or verifying bank
    or credit card numbers.
  • Never reply or click on links inside of the email
    as this will direct you to the bogus website.

  • PLANTS A SEED OF BAD SOFTWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER
    THAT DIRECTS YOU TO A BOGUS WEBSITE WHEN YOU TYPE

  • THE WEBSITE MAY APPEAR TO BE LEGITIMATE.

Dont take the Bait!Preventative Measures
  • Use Anti-viruses (Norton/McAfee)
  • Use Anti-spyware (www.spychecker.com)
  • Use Pop-up Blockers
  • Delete Unsolicited Emails
  • You are still vulnerable!

  • Dont email personal or financial information.
  • Dont download unsolicited files inside of
    emails.
  • Monitor financial statements on a regular basis.
  • Look for padlock for a secure website.
  • Legitimate financial websites use https instead
    of http. (the s means secure)
