FORECASTING.

television. On the handout is a table showing
the symbols used by the media to show different
types of weather on their maps. Watch! Some
symbols are special colours- your teacher will

3STANDARD GRADE GEOGRAPHY WEATHER
This is a past paper exam question for you to try
in class or at home, depending on the time.
THIS IS A GENERAL LEVEL QUESTION.
This question is worth 4 marks, and you need to
give at least two elements in your answer.( Id
do three or four! ) Answer it on lined paper and
hand it in before going on with the show.
The next slide has a sample answer of the highest
quality- copy it onto handout 4 in the space left
for this after trying the question for yourself.
Notice the mention of the name of the day each
time, and the quoting of actual data!

NOTE ABOUT BULLET POINTS AND LISTS!
In the assessments for Standard Grade, bullet
points are only acceptable when they are
extended. By this we mean that they have to fully
explain/ describe/ answer the question asked.
(Look back to the your copied answer to see this
has been done.) One, two and three-word points
cannot possibly do this adequately, and are
therefore not acceptable. For this reason, lists
are also no good unless they are extended. Proper
sentences remain the best way of answering
questions to gain full marks!
6STANDARD GRADE GEOGRAPHY WEATHER
Read page 19, section 3H about weather map
station symbols. Discuss them in class. There
is a handout of these to stick into your jotter.
YOU WILL HAVE TO KNOW THESE SYMBOLS OFF BY HEART
FOR THE EXAMS! THERE WILL NOT BE A KEY IN THE
EXAM.
