  • Faculty Mentors must be tenured faculty (or
their equivalent) who have established records of
research productivity and active grant support,
preferably from the NIH, in areas of basic,
applied, and translational research relevant to
    medical rehabilitation (RFA-HD-06-010).

7
Specific Aims
Aim 1. Identify and recruit qualified
occupational and physical therapy scholars who
are beginning their academic/scientific careers
and demonstrate an interest in and potential for
independent translational and clinical research
in rehabilitation science.
8
Specific Aims
Aim 2. Develop and implement a high quality
training program that will provide occupational
and physical therapy scientists with the skills
and mentoring necessary for productive scientific
careers. Aim 3. Create and maintain a
supportive infrastructure for clinical and
translational rehabilitation research, with a
wide cadre of senior rehabilitation
investigators, comprehensive faculty development,
and networks for developing successful
collaborations and partnerships.

15
UF set a school-record with 12 Gator athletic
teams in the top-10 in 2007-08, making it the
seventh consecutive year that 10 or more Gator
teams finished among the nation's top 10. (UTMB
has no athletic teams)

    Programs
  • T-32 training grants to support doctoral
    students

ICTSA (Institutional Clinical Translational
Science Award)
  • Both UF and UTMB received excellent scores on
their ICTSA applications and funding is expected
    July 2009.
  • - ICTSA grants include support for
translational and clinical research. There are
    significant opportunities for collaboration
    with K12s.

19
Career Development Program Phase 1 Trainees will
spend up to 3 years at UTMB or UF as a member of
a translational research team supervised by a

assistant professors and salary support
provided. Phase 2 Trainees will continue to be
provided mentoring support as they transition to
a tenure track or research faculty position.
Salary not provided during Phase 2.
