memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen. - 501(c)(3) Public Charity
- Grassroots organization
- 125 cities and communities, more than100 Race for
the Cure events. Including 3 international
affiliates - Foundation Headquarters in Dallas, TX
- Raised nearly 1 Billion since inception

- The Komen Columbus Affiliate operates with the
assistance of hundreds of volunteers, three paid
staff members, and three new positions being
hired soon. - The 2008 Komen Columbus Race achieved a 10
increase in Race participants and an increase in
net proceeds over 2007. - Over 13 million has been raised during the
Races 16-year existence. - The Komen Columbus Race is the largest road race
in Ohio.

- Seventy-five percent of our proceeds are awarded
each year through a grant process to local
organizations. - In 2008, 34 organizations received funding. Each
grantee conducts a program that offers breast
cancer education, screening or treatment to
residents of Central Ohio. -
- The remaining 25 percent is directed to the Susan
G. Komen for the Cure National Grant Program to
fund research on a national and international
level.
