Sharing

• Has your child used the Just Right or 5 Finger
  Rule since we have met?
• Have you noticed your child is more motivated to
  read?
• Has your child read any of the books that they
  received last week?
• Share any experience you and your child have had
  with books since last week.

What is FLUENCY?

• Speed not too fast, not too slow
• Accuracy not too many mistakes
• Expression show feeling when reading

Why is FLUENCY Important?

• Fluency is the best predictor of reading success!
• It also helps your child understand their reading
  better!
• According to the National Reading Panel Report,
  2000.

How You Can Help

• Echo Reading You read one line, the child reads
  the same line after you (any language).
• Choral Reading You and your child read the same
  lines aloud together at the same time (any
  language).
• Partner Reading You and your child take turns
  reading (any language).
• REMEMBER You need to be a good model!

• Work with a partner and one of the books provided
  and try the three different ways of reading.
• Remember you are modeling good reading!
