Resurrection in Matthew

• Mary Magdalene and another Mary go to the tomb of
  Jesus (repeats in all four gospels).
• When they arrived an angel, frightens the guards
  away, and tells them that Jesus had risen. He
  shows them that Jesus body is not there and then
  bids them to find his disciples and tell them to
  await Jesus return.
• On the way they are met by Jesus and he tells
  them to gather the disciples in Galilee. When he
  arrives the disciples worship but doubt.
• Jesus then bid them to go out and make disciples
  of all nations.

Resurrection in Mark

• also starts with the two Marys going to Jesus
  tomb.
• they are joined by Salome. When they arrive at
  the tomb they find the stone already rolled back.
  
• There they find a young man who tells them not to
  be afraid because Jesus has risen. He bids the
  women to tell Peter and the disciples to go to
  Galilee. When the women leave, they are too
  frightened to speak.
• Jesus later appears to Mary.
• She tells the disciples, but they do not believe.
  
• Jesus then appears to 2 disciples, but they, too,
  do not believe. Finally Jesus appears to all of
  them and rebukes them for their disbelief. He
  then bids them to go out and preach the gospel to
  the world.

Resurrection in Luke

• the women take oils and spices to the tomb, and
  find a large stone in front of the tomb rolled
  away.
• When they enter they cannot find Jesus body.
• 2 angels appear.
• They return to the disciples and tell them what
  happened. Peter runs an to the tomb to see that
  it is true.
• Later, Jesus appears to two disciples on the road
  to Emmaus, but they do not recognize him. They
  tell him about how a great man and prophet was
  killed unjustly.
• When they reached Emmaus they bid Jesus to stay
  with them. While they eat he took the bread,
  broke and blessed it.
• Then the disciples realized that it was Jesus.
• They returned to Jerusalem and gathered the other
  disciples to tell them what transpired.
• While they spoke Jesus appeared to them. They
  thought him a ghost but he told them that he was
  not. He then told them that all that had
  happened had been necessary.

Resurrection in John

• Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb.
• She sees that the tomb is empty and she goes to
  Simon Peter and tells him that Jesus body has
  been taken.
• Peter and another disciple enter the tomb and
  find it empty.
• Mary stays outside weeping, when 2 angels appear,
  asking her why she weeps.
• Jesus appears behind her and she turns around,
  but she does not recognize him. She asks him
  where Jesus body has been taken, And he says her
  name.
• He then tells her to tell the other disciples
  that he will ascend to heaven.
• Jesus next appeared to the disciples hiding in
  Jerusalem. He tells them, Receive the holy
  Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven
  them, and whose sins you retain are retained.

Resurrection John

• One disciple called Thomas was not with them and
  would not believe Jesus had returned until he
  touched the wounds himself.
• Jesus appeared to him and said, Have you come to
  believe because you have seen me? Blessed are
  those who have not seen and believed.
• Jesus next appeared to 7 disciples on the sea of
  Tiberias. They saw him on the shore, but they
  did not recognize him.
• He asked if they had caught anything and they
  said no. He said to cast the net again and when
  they did they could not pull it in because of the
  number of fish. They recognized him then and
  they managed to bring all the fish ashore.
• Jesus bade them to bring some fish and have
  breakfast. Jesus then asked Peter if he loved
  him three times and Peter said yes 3 times. Then
  Jesus said, Follow me.
