Title: The resurrection makes sense
1- The resurrection makes sense
- 1. The human condition
- a. There seems to be an inherited problem with
the human race. - 1. Innocent children Why is it that we have
to teach our children to do what is right, yet
they just naturally (without any training at all)
do what is evil? They steal, lie, they challenge
authority. If you dont correct, they will become
little monsters that will someday become big
monsters. This is a huge dilemma for those who do
not believe in God. All children of all cultures
challenge authority and disobey. If we are just a
product of evolution why is this the norm? Why do
we have to teach them to be good and not bad? Why
not the opposite? Why is this so uniform in a
random universe?

Rom 512 So then, just as sin entered the world
through one man and death through sin, and so
death spread to all people because all sinned
513 for before the law was given, sin was in the
world, but there is no accounting for sin when
there is no law. 514 Yet death reigned from Adam
until Moses even over those who did not sin in
the same way that Adam (who is a type of the
coming one) transgressed.

Gen 65 But the Lord saw that the wickedness of
humankind had become great on the earth. Every
inclination of the thoughts of their minds was
only evil all the time. 66 The Lord regretted
that he had made humankind on the earth, and he
was highly offended.

Psalm 515 Look, I was guilty of sin from birth,
a sinner the moment my mother conceived me.
5- Perhaps the rules are the problem? Maybe as some
have suggested, we should let children just do
what comes naturally, perhaps we are to
restrictive? Perhaps we should have no rules or
laws and just let people do as they please?
6- Anarchy is always bad!
- It breaks down the civil authorities God set up
Rom 131 Let every person be subject to the
governing authorities. For there is no authority
except by Gods appointment, and the authorities
that exist have been instituted by God. 132 So
the person who resists such authority resists the
ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur
judgment 133 (for rulers cause no fear for good
conduct but for bad). Do you desire not to fear
authority? Do good and you will receive its
commendation, 134 for it is Gods servant for
your good. But if you do wrong, be in fear, for
it does not bear the sword in vain. It is Gods
servant to administer retribution on the
wrongdoer.
7- Whenever civil law breaks down what happens?
- Do people just remain calm and in an orderly
fashion help one another and keep the peace? - A few do
- Many dont
- The doers always have a strong sense of right and
wrong instilled by their guardians. Those who
have a weak or absent sense of right and wrong
create anarchy.
8- Having said that though, all people without the
restraining action and the indwelling of the Holy
Spirit will eventually be evil.
Gen 611 The earth was ruined in the sight of
God the earth was filled with violence. 612 God
saw the earth, and indeed it was ruined, for all
living creatures on the earth were sinful.
9- Breaking down the civil authority creates
- Violence
- Murder
- Stealing
- Resisting authority further
- Creates famine
- Totalitarianism
- Bondage
- Slavery
- Injustice
- DEATH

Rev 62 So I looked, and here came a white horse!
The one who rode it had a bow, and he was given a
crown, and as a conqueror he rode out to conquer.
63 Then when the Lamb opened the second seal, I
heard the second living creature saying, Come!
64 And another horse, fiery red, came out, and
the one who rode it was granted permission to
take peace from the earth, so that people would
butcher one another, and he was given a huge
sword. 65 Then when the Lamb opened the third
seal I heard the third living creature saying,
Come! So I looked, and here came a black horse!
The one who rode it had a balance scale in his
hand.
11- 66 Then I heard something like a voice from
among the four living creatures saying, A quart
of wheat will cost a days pay and three quarts
of barley will cost a days pay. But do not
damage the olive oil and the wine!67 Then when
the Lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice
of the fourth living creature saying, Come! 68
So I looked and here came a pale green horse! The
name of the one who rode it was Death, and Hades
followed right behind. They were given authority
over a fourth of the earth, to kill its
population with the sword, famine, and disease,
and by the wild animals of the earth.
12- So what is wrong with us?
- Do we have a sin problem? I think history is the
proof there. Mankind is a history of war,
upheaval, injustice, slavery It is the opposite
of this -
Phil 48 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever
is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever
is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable, if something is
excellent or praiseworthy, think about these
things. 49 And what you learned and received and
heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God
of peace will be with you.
13- Are we destine to repeat history?
- Have we ever learned from history?
- WWI happened in 1914. It was the first global war
of its kind and it was the war to end all
wars. - By 1939 we were in the second world war that
surpassed WW1in death and munitions. - By 1947 the Cold war had begun between the allies
of WW11. - By the 1980s Russia had 45,000 Nuclear weapons
we had 24,000. - By 2008 Russia, USA, China, India, Pakistan,
Israel, Europe, North Korea, Canada, Iran (soon)
have them.
14- Am I missing something here??
- Are we learning?
- Are we progressing?
15- So, we have a sin problem.
- What are we to do with it?
- Is there a solution to this mess?
- Is there hope?
- Is there a future?
- Is this all there is?
16- Some powerful predictions
- Mat 241 Now as Jesus was going out of the temple
courts and walking away, his disciples came to
show him the temple buildings. 242 And he said
to them, Do you see all these things? I tell you
the truth, not one stone will be left on another.
All will be torn down! - 70 AD and the Roman destruction of the temple,
which to this day does not exist.
17- Mat 243 As he was sitting on the Mount of
Olives, his disciples came to him privately and
said, Tell us, when will these things happen?
And what will be the sign of your coming and of
the end of the age? 244 Jesus answered them,
Watch out that no one misleads you. 245 For
many will come in my name, saying, I am the
Christ, and they will mislead many. 246 You
will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Make sure
that you are not alarmed, for this must happen,
but the end is still to come. 247 For nation
will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom. And there will be famines and
earthquakes in various places. 248 All these
things are the beginning of birth pains.
18- Mat 249 Then they will hand you over to be
persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated
by all the nations because of my name. 2410 Then
many will be led into sin, and they will betray
one another and hate one another. 2411 And many
false prophets will appear and deceive many,
2412 and because lawlessness will increase so
much, the love of many will grow cold. 2413 But
the person who endures to the end will be saved.
2414 And this gospel of the kingdom will be
preached throughout the whole inhabited earth as
a testimony to all the nations, and then the end
will come.
19- 2421 For then there will be great suffering
unlike anything that has happened from the
beginning of the world until now, or ever will
happen. 2422 And if those days had not been cut
short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of
the elect those days will be cut short. 2429
Immediately after the suffering of those days,
the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not
give its light the stars will fall from heaven,
and the powers of heaven will be shaken.
20- 2430 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear
in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will
mourn. They will see the Son of Man arriving on
the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
2431 And he will send his angels with a loud
trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect
from the four winds, from one end of heaven to
the other.
21- 2436 But as for that day and hour no one knows
it not even the angels in heaven except the
Father alone. 2437 For just like the days of
Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will
be. 2438 For in those days before the flood,
people were eating and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered
the ark. 2439 And they knew nothing until the
flood came and took them all away. It will be the
same at the coming of the Son of Man.
22- 2442 Therefore stay alert, because you do not
know on what day your Lord will come. 2443 But
understand this If the owner of the house had
known at what time of night the thief was coming,
he would have been alert and would not have let
his house be broken into. 2444 Therefore you
also must be ready, because the Son of Man will
come at an hour when you do not expect him.
23- 1 Cor 1520 But now Christ has been raised from
the dead, the firstfruits of those who have
fallen asleep. 1521 For since death came through
a man, the resurrection of the dead also came
through a man. 1522 For just as in Adam all die,
so also in Christ all will be made alive. 1523
But each in his own order Christ, the
firstfruits then when Christ comes, those who
belong to him.
