Introduction to ALBERT
  • Students register for courses through NYUs
    online registration system ALBERT. The
    following slides, with their step-by-step
    instructions, will familiarize you with the
    course registration process. 
  • Access to ALBERT is available via NYUHome
    https//home.nyu.edu/

Access NYUHome via www.nyu.edu

Log on to NYUHome using your NetID and Password.
Click Go(If you have not set up your NYUHome
account please refer to the Set Up Your Email
link)

Once you are logged into NYUHome, select the
Academics tab

In the Academics section, click Student Login to
open ALBERT

You can search available classes by selecting
Course Status under the Registration menu

Searching For Courses
  • Each course is listed by School, Course Subject
    and Course Number
  • Example
  • V40.0100 Writing The Essay
  • V School course is offered in (ex. V CAS, C
    Stern)
  • 40 Course Subject/Department (ex. Expository
    Writing Program)
  • 0100 Course number (ex. Writing The Essay)
  • Refer to the Class of 2010 website or Curriculum
    Worksheet for the course numbers of required
    courses.

  • Writing The Essay Expository Writing Program
    (V40)
  • Calculus I Mathematics (V63)
  • All Morse Academic Plan (MAP) courses
    (Conversations of the West, World Cultures,
    Natural Science I II) Morse Academic Plan
    (V55)
  • Microeconomics Economics Cores (C30)
  • Statistics - Statistics, Op Rsch Act Sci (C22)
  • All other courses are listed under the department
    directly related to their topic. (ex. Biology
    courses Biology V23)

In the Course Status screen indicate the Course
Subject, Course Level, and Course Number of the
course you want to look up (ex. For Writing The
Essay Course Subject Expository Writing Program
(UNDERGRAD-CAS V40) Course Level All
Undergraduate Course Number 0100). Click Search

Reading Course Listings
  • Section - A specific session of a class
  • Call - The 5-digit number that is used to code
    a specific course section
  • Days (M, T, W, R, F) Class meeting days.  In
    order to differentiate between Tuesday and
    Thursday, NYU uses an R to represent
    Thursday. (ex. TR class meets on Tuesdays and
    Thursdays)
  • Bldg Room See building code link. All
    classroom buildings are easily within 10 minute
    walking distance from one another
  • Activ. - LEC/Lecture the main meeting of a
    class RCT/Recitation - a recitation is a
    required plenary session that is regularly
    scheduled  as part of some courses of study.
  • Lecture sections requiring enrollment in a
    corresponding recitation will be noted under the
    course listing. (ex. Students must also register
    for a RCT Sec 002-003)
  • Cr. Hrs the number of credits received after
    successful completion of course

Courses which require enrollment in both a
lecture and recitation/lab section are noted
Students registering for this lecture must also
register for 1 recitation/lab section (Sec
002-003)

Next, select Register under the Registration menu

In the Register screen enter the Course Call
Number of each course you want to enroll in and
click Submit.

If enrollment was successful it will be noted
under Status.

If the course also requires enrollment in a
recitation section, a 2nd Activity Required
note will appear

2nd Activity Required This means class also
requires enrollment in a recitation section

Return to the Course Listing page via steps
outlined on slides 7-15. to add a corresponding
recitation section.

Enrollment in Natural Science lecture and
recitation complete

If you want to drop one course in order to add
another, select Drop next to the course you wish
to drop and type in the course call of the
course you wish to add. Click the Submit with
CDA Rules.
To drop a course select Drop in the dropdown menu
next to the course
Submit with CDA Rules This function only drops a
course if you successfully enroll in a course you
wish to add.
