Background

• Idea the concept of institutional partnership,
  approved at the Johannesburg Summit on
  Sustainable Development, 2002
• Initiative the Finnish Council of University
  Rectors
• UniPID network has received funding from the
  Ministry of Education 20072009
• The official decision-making body of the network
  is the UniPID Board, constituting members from
  each member universities
• Currently coordinated by the University of
  Jyväskylä

• To promote and implement
• sustainable development in the world
• -Through establishing long-lasting cooperation
  in the field of research and higher education
• -Based on the principles of partnership and
  institutional cooperation, between universities
  in Finland and their partners in the South
