- Research Question
- The research question for this study is what are
the career - choices Pre- College Program students face and
how is the - Pre- college Program helpful in their pursuit to
obtain - higher education?
- Purpose of the Study
- The purpose of this research is to investigate
the career - choices and opportunities of Pre-College Bound
students.
3Literature Review
- -Students in Pre-College Programs are more
likely to apply for financial aid than students
who are not in pre-college programs. - -Some of the students who apply for financial
- aid is due to there family has very low income
- and cannot afford to pay for college, and some
- students plan to work 15-20 hours while
- attending college to pay for tuition.
4Literature Review
-About 1 out of 10 from each group lived in
communities best describe as being located in
farm or open country areas. -About 40 of
UB students and 30 of non-UB students lived in
towns with populations of fewer than 10,000
people. About 30 of UB students and 40 of
non-UB students lived in communities with
populations between 10,000 and 250,000.
5Methodology
- Instruments- The instrument used in this study is
a questionnaire. The questionnaire was divided
into areas such as background, career choices,
and challenges and opportunities in pursuit to
higher education. The instrument will contained
fourteen questions both open-ended and closed
questions. - Procedures- Our study is broken down into three
groups Upward Bound, H.O.L.A Upward Bound, and
Math and Science Regional Center. -
- Subject Selection In our research we used a
three-tier selection process. We broke it up into
three categories Program, Grade, and Gender.
From the following three categories
6METHODOLOGY
Step 1 Twenty students were chosen based on
their program participation.
Step 2 Students were then divided by their
current grade.
Step 3 Finally, the students were divided by
gender.
