3
Overview of the LS460
  • The Lexus LS460 is one of the newest and most
    tech-savvy cars to this date
  • It is a true engineering marvel
  • Many technological advances

4
Basic Specifications
5
8 Speed Transmission
  • The Lexus has the worlds very first eight speed
    transmission.
  • This transmission was a result of Satoru
Maruyamano, who spent 17 years working on
    transmission parts.
  • This new design is the same size as a 6 speed
    transmission
  • To understand its significance, consider
  • Going from a 4 speed to a 6 speed, yields a
change from 3 to 7 percent in terms of fuel
efficiency. This design improves even upon that.

Additional Features
  • Power Sunshades
  • 19 Speaker Surround Sound System
  • GPS Navigation System
  • Crystal Headlights
  • Smart Access/ No Key Start
  • Climate Control
  • Massagers on Back Seats
  • Radar Cruise Control
  • DVD Players and Screens
  • Rear Seat Recliners
  • Built in Refridgerator

8
Self-Parking System
  • This is the feature that separates the LS460 from
any other luxury cars on the market
  • Requires no interaction from the driver aside
from a simple push of a button and a tap on the
    brakes

9
Procedure for Self-Parking
  • Drive past a parking spot at less than 12 mph
  • Put the car into reverse and press a button on
the bottom the dash board screen
  • Slowly go backwards keeping your foot on the
    brake
  • Touching the gas cancels the parking
  • Stay under 2.5 mph as you back up.
  • The car does all the turning and navigation
itself and even announces when it is finished.

10
How Does This Work?
  • It utilizes four sonar sensors in the rear of the
car and six in the front.

11
How Does This Work?
  • It has a wide angle backup camera that displays
what is behind you on the dash board screen.

12
How Does This Work?
  • It senses the distance between cars behind you
and only operates if the parking space is 6.5
feet longer than the car itself.
  • The standard parallel parking spot for a drivers
test is around 24 feet. Taking the length of
this car into account, the spot would be about 8
feet longer than the car. It can part in 6.5
    though.

13
How Does This Work?
  • The sonar system beeps, letting you know how
close you are to an object.
  • This system works both with automatic and manual
    parking.

Conclusion
  • Engineering is all about innovation and
    efficiency
  • This car does both extremely well
  • It is an engineering marvel
